Note from the President

We are entering a very exciting time as we partner with our new minister, Rev. Lone Jensen Broussard and begin to move into the next chapter of our church's story. Transitions create an opportunity for reexamination and for starting anew, an opportunity to bring along all that is precious and leave behind that which no longer fits. UUCB is in an important transition and one of my goals for the coming year is that we move into our shared ministry with Rev. Broussard with loving and thoughtful deliberateness, establishing open and constructive communication that is based on realizing how much we each love this church and our community. We will not always agree about issues or decisions, but if we remember that we are all part of the UUCB community and listen with respect and openness, we will enrich each other's perspective, learn from each other, and deepen our relationships. The workshop on Compassionate Communication that many of us attended on August 8th is an excellent foundation upon which we can build.

It is a privilege to serve as president of the congregation and to help shape our shared ministry with Rev. Broussard. Through the Search process and Rev. Broussard's recent “settling in” process , I have experienced her deep compassion, keen intelligence, and thoughtful wisdom. We are beginning an exciting journey with Rev. Broussard. All of us have a role in how it unfolds and all of us will share its richness.

Diane Tucker
