Our Choir

As we begin to prepare for another exciting year with the Adult Choir, Director of Music Gary Packwood personally invites YOU, yes YOU, to become a part of the choral music here at UUCB. There are no audition requirements necessary; all you need is a love for singing!!! Our goal is to increase in quantity and quality ! So if you've ever sung in the shower or hummed along with you car radio -- then now is the time to "Come And Join The Chorus!" We rehearse on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 PM in the church sanctuary. If there are persons who would like to contribute their musical talents (instrumentalists, dancers, etc..) by providing special music on a given Sunday, please do not hesitate to contact him at dir.music.

Children's Choir

UUCB Members Terry Hall and Angela Pruitt have graciously stepped forward to lead and accompany a new UUCB Children's Choir.  Dr. Gary Packwood has given this new effort his blessing, and we're ready to get started!  The aim is to prepare at least two songs to sing for the Bread Communion service the weekend before Thanksgiving, and two songs for the Christmas Eve service, along with some other songs just for fun.

Interested?  Want to have your kids participate?  Let us know!   Please send Sharron Swain an e-mail at  dreor call today at 945-8109.   Mandatory rehearsals will take place after church on selected Sundays (to be announced) for one hour.  The first fifteen minutes will be a time for eating lunch and visiting, followed by 45 minutes of practice.  All little ones are welcome.  Come join the fun!

Our Music Committee

The Music Committee's mission is to maintain a quality music program, thereby enriching the total church environment. Chaired by Angela Pruitt, the committee works to support our music professionals, Gary Packwood and Cynthia Jones, and assists the Worship Partners with music for services. But there are many facets to helping maintain a great music program! Want to help? Let Angela Pruitt know. You can write her at chair.music.

The committee met in September with eight members on board. We are trying to find a creative way to fund raise this year. Our other activities are rather like housekeeping - making sure all hymnals have "Go in Peace" in the back; checking to see if more hymnals are needed; and cataloging new music and preparing it for use by the choir.

Extras

In May 2006, Gary Packwood traveled with several members of the choir for a wonderful whirlwind singing tour in France. Listen to our choir (you may need to download Quicktime or other player):

Schubert’s Mass in G major “Credo”

Victor Johnson’s “Doe Decamps”

Contact Music Director Gary Packwood, dir.music. if you'd like to be part of our choir.

For the children's choir, contact Terry Hall or Angela Pruitt at childrens.choir.

If you would like to honor someone by purchasing a hymnal, please call Angela Pruitt or write her at
chair.music.
