Gratitude as a Spiritual Practice, by Rev Ed Brock

Unitarian Universalists have let other religious groups take over the sphere of life we think of as religious or spiritual. We have turned this role of defining religion and spirituality over to people and groups that have turned religion into an arena for wanton prejudice, willful ignorance, spiritual malfeasance, political oppression, anti-science views, and anti-pluralistic drivel. Our failure to define ourselves more fully and carefully has given strength to the spread of religious barbarism.  Rather than curse the darkness, we need to light a lot of candles.
