From the Board: Volunteer Spotlight
As we look forward to candidating week, it seems appropriate to think about all the people who helped to see us through this "year without a minister." There are so many people to thank, from our dedicated staff to our Worship Partners to the countless volunteers who stepped up to the plate for everything from Religious Education to Pastoral Care. We hope in the coming months to "spotlight" as many of these wonderful volunteers as we can. This month it seems especially appropriate to recognize the Herculean efforts of our Search Committee and their tremendous dedication to the challenge of helping our congregation find a new minister. The Search Committee includes Diane Tucker (Chair), Tan Crochen, Juanzetta Flowers, Terry Hall, Dale Hogeland, and Deborah Young. The Committee conducted the huge Congregational Survey and hosted numerous small congregational meetings that allowed each of us to think about what the church means to us and what we'd like in a new minister. The Committee created our Congregational Record and devoted countless hours to our Ministerial Search Packet, careful at every step to express the hopes and dreams of our great congregation. Because so much of the work of the Search Committee is not done in the public eye, it is all to easy for the rest of us to forget, or to not even realize, the enormous amount of time and effort involved, and the personal sacrifice of each committee member. We thank each of you for all that time and effort, for all those personal sacrifices, for all the long meetings, for all the emails and telephone calls, for all the drafting and re-drafting, and for facing all the challenges. We could not ask for a better group of individuals to represent our congregation in this important endeavor. THANK YOU, and we all look forward to a successful candidating week!
